our Veteran Care Services
At ameriCARE, we know that veterans are a special breed of people; they’re men and women who have made sacrifices for our country and deserve dignified, respectful care. Through our veteran care services, we are able to provide customized, compassionate care to our community’s veterans. Whether they are returning from combat with new health challenges, or they simply need an extra hand throughout the day as they age, our team is here to help.
Today, many of our veterans are vulnerable to a variety of issues that can impact their quality of life. These include:
- Malnutrition: A recent study of malnutrition among older vets in home-based primary care found that 15% were malnourished.
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): According to some research, up to 23% of veterans suffer from PTSD at some point in their life. The emergence of PTSD symptoms in late life (after retirement age) has been noted to correlate with the onset of dementia.
- Ongoing Health Issues: Older veterans are far more likely than nonveterans to report experiencing two or more chronic conditions.
Because we know these complications can make life more difficult for veterans and their families, our veteran home care services work to address them. Our care team provides support for veterans in the following areas:
Hygiene Assistance
Bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, and other personal hygiene tasks can be difficult to manage due to age or chronic illness. Our compassionate caregivers are trained to provide these services with respect and dignity.
Meal Preparation
Our caregivers can help prepare meals, shop for groceries, monitor dietary restrictions, and provide assistance in promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Light Housekeeping
Keeping a clean home isn’t just about hygiene; it also encourages comfort and peace of mind. Our caregivers can assist with any daily household chores to ensure a clean house that’s safe and welcoming.
Exercise & Recreation
Our caregivers will encourage your loved one to move more, safely. Whether it’s a walk up and down the driveway or assistance with physical therapy exercises, our caregivers can provide assistance to help your loved one stay active.
Running Errands
If driving is difficult for you or your veteran loved one, our caregivers can assist with tasks like grocery shopping, medication pick-up, maintaining personal appointments, and more.
Medical Appointment Support
We can accompany our clients to their medical appointments to help them navigate any information or instructions provided by their doctor.
Companionship
Our caregivers approach engagement through gentle and positive encouragement. We facilitate meaningful activities to help our clients socialize, share their thoughts, and recover successfully.
Medication Reminders
Managing age, disability, or injury often means dealing with complex medication schedules and dosages. We’ll make sure you or your veteran loved one will take the appropriate amount of medication right when they need it.
Pet or Service Animal Care
Our veteran care services can include pet care, like dog walking, feeding, transportation, and assistance with vet appointments, pet hygiene, and other services to keep both owner and pet happy and healthy.
