Veterans Home Care Funding in Grapevine, TX

For many of us in the United States, military service touches our lives, whether through family, friends, or our communities. Our veterans have sacrificed so much and genuinely deserve our heartfelt gratitude, compassion, and care. Sadly, many of these brave individuals feel isolated and face daily challenges with tasks most of us take for granted, like preparing meals, keeping up with household chores, or managing their own wellbeing.

As veterans grow older, it becomes more important to provide the support they need to remain independent at home. After years spent in service to our country, these individuals deserve dignity, comfort, and attentive care. By investing in the health of our senior veterans, we help them enjoy a higher quality of life and honor their commitment to us all.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recognizes these needs and provides veterans home care funding in Grapevine, TX, to assist servicepeople and their loved ones. What many families don't realize is that long-term care options - including in-home care - are included in programs like ameriCARE's Veteran CARE services.

What Benefits Are Available Through Veterans Home Care Funding in Grapevine, TX?

The VA offers valuable benefits that include coverage for home health aide and homemaker services to veterans who require help with daily living activities. Through collaboration with one of our care partners, we learned that, out of more than 8 million veterans in the VA healthcare system aged 65 and older, only about 150,000 are utilizing this support. This means fewer than 2 percent of eligible veterans are getting the care they've rightfully earned. In some cases, such as with "Aid and Attendance," surviving spouses of veterans may also be eligible for benefits.

ameriCARE is committed to linking veterans and seniors nationwide with compassionate, highly trained caregivers from their own communities. We're proud to say that our mission goes beyond care - in fact, we're happy to help guide veterans and their families through the complexities of the VA system, offering hands-on support during the entire approval process. Many of our franchise owners team members are veterans themselves, who are dedicated to ensuring you or your loved one receives reliable, personalized care at home.

Common Issues Veterans Face After Leaving the Military

Regardless of how long they served, many military veterans leave service with a litany of health issues - both mental and physical. Some of the most common problems that older veterans face after leaving the military include

1. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Research from the National Center for PTSD reveals that as many as 23% of veterans will experience post-traumatic stress disorder during their lifetime. For some, symptoms may not surface until later years, often following retirement. Notably, the development or worsening of PTSD in older adults has been linked to an increased risk of dementia, suggesting a complex relationship between trauma and cognitive decline as veterans age.

2. Malnutrition

A recent study featured in the National Library of Medicine examined the prevalence of malnutrition among older veterans receiving home-based primary care. The researchers discovered that 15% of these individuals were classified as malnourished, highlighting a significant health concern within this population. Malnutrition in elderly veterans can lead to a range of complications, such as weakened immune response, slower recovery from illness, and increased risk of hospitalization. These issues underscore the need for veterans home care funding in Grapevine, TX that helps seniors with eating and nutrition challenges.

3. Long-Term Health Problems

Studies show that older veterans face a 25% higher likelihood of reporting multiple chronic health issues compared to their nonveteran peers. This trend underscores the unique health challenges veterans may encounter as they age, which often stem from service-related injuries, stress, and more.

GRAPEVINE, Texas — There are plenty of speakeasy-style bars around North Texas that embrace the cloak-and-dagger days of alcohol during prohibition.

But a coffee shop in Grapevine is putting its own spin on the idea with a hidden bagel menu that customers can only access if they know exactly what to do.

At Landmark Coffee, the experience starts inside the trunk of a vintage Rolls-Royce.

“It used to be a gas station in the 1920s,” said Landmark Coffee owner Brady Johnson about their building located on Grapevine’s historic Main Street. “We wanted to use the building, the history, the car out front.”

Johnson was looking for a creative way to expand the shop’s food offerings while embracing the property’s historic charm. He and his staff came up with the idea of an occasional pop-up using an antique rotary phone inside the trunk of the classic car.

When the trunk is open, you are a phone call away from a delicious Shug’s Bagel, Landmark’s pop-up partners.

Here’s how it works: Customers pick up the phone inside the trunk and it automatically dials the staff inside the coffee shop. They will give you a rundown of that day’s offerings, which will change with each pop-up date. After placing your order, you’ll receive a text when it’s ready — along with some very important instructions for pickup.

“We say, ‘Meet at the red side door’ — you’ve got to figure out where that is,” Johnson explained. “In the text, you’ll get instructions for a secret knock. You do your secret knock and the door opens and you get your bagel.”

The first two pop-ups were a hit and made the rounds among social media influencers.

There is one catch — the trunk isn’t always open. The speakeasy-style service only pops up on select days and it helps to be clued into Landmark’s social media pages for when the next time the trunk of the Rolls-Royce will be open and ready for orders.

If you’re hoping to try it soon, here’s a hint: the next opening is planned for Valentine’s Day.

So if you find yourself near Landmark Coffee, be careful with their secret.

Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) International is hard at work making its new headquarter campus in Grapevine, Texas, ready for its full staff to occupy.

After 40 years in San Antonio and after much prayer, the leadership of BSF decided to move the headquarters to North Texas for several reasons. It and purchased its present building in 2025 without incurring any debt.

BSF’s San Antonio facilities needed extensive remodeling to continue serving its needs effectively, Mindy Roehrig, BSF’s chief communications officer, told MinistryWatch. As the ministry evaluated the investment required to renovate the San Antonio property, they compared it with the highest and best use of its 278 acres. In the end, leadership recognized an opportunity to be “better stewards of [its] resources by relocating rather than renovating.”

Additionally, moving to Grapevine positioned BSF closer to DFW International, one of the world’s largest and busiest airports. With over 300 daily direct flights and many international flights, BSF staff has readier access to BSF Bible study groups in 190 countries. Roehrig said the airport’s flight availability makes it more efficient to fly international leaders to its headquarters to conduct staff training. It will also allow its staff to “reach [its] global community with greater ease — improving stewardship of time, energy, and resources.”

The ministry also hosts leadership training events in various venues worldwide, which requires international travel.

BSF also says its new location in North Texas will put it in a strategic position to connect and collaborate with both its existent BSF groups and other Christian ministries. Members of BSF leadership hope to “regularly visit classes, listen to leaders’ experiences, and engage directly with members.”

With a large concentration of BSF groups in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the ministry anticipates its location will also help recruit quality staff.

The BSF property in San Antonio is currently under contract, and the purchaser is engaged in its due diligence, Roehrig said.

According to Grapevine city documents, the interior alterations to the office building that BSF purchased are going to cost about $14.5 million.

Roehrig said the ministry intends to create office space for over 100 staff members, along with “a multi-purpose gathering space, video and podcast production studios, a reflection space highlighting BSF’s history, and community space for local members and leaders to connect and fellowship.”

She anticipates the building will be fully operational and open in early 2027 and expects the ministry to host a building dedication ceremony.

In the MinistryWatch 1000 database, Bible Study Fellowship is highly rated with a 5-Star Financial Efficiency Rating and a Donor Confidence Score of 93 out of 100.
